The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

Our Mission
Our History

Established in 1919, the Terry Fisher American Legion Post was named in honor of the first Rockwall resident who gave his life for our Country. Pvt. Fisher USMC was killed in action in 1918 during World War I. In his memory Post 117 has committed itself to continuing to serve the veterans and citizens of Rockwall County.

A commemorative picture and plaque of Terry Fisher can be seen at the Rockwall County Courthouse at the Military Museum located at 1111 E Yellowjacket Lane in Rockwall.
